Chamber Recognizes “All-Stars” for April
The Blair County Chamber’s ability to offer quality programming, events, recognition and advocacy efforts depends largely on the willingness of sponsors to step up to help underwrite the costs associated those efforts. So at the end of each month, we publish a list of businesses or individuals who sponsored anything Chamber-related during the month. They have helped us to make a difference in the business community. For April, those sponsors were: Altoona Sunrise Rotary, ARC Federal Credit Union, Blair Companies, Claysburg Rotary, Discovery House, Hollidaysburg Rotary, M&T Bank, Morrisons Cove Rotary, Rotary Club of Altoona, S&T Bank, The Columns, and Tyrone Rotary.

Catanese Group to host Tomorrow’s “Business Before Hours”
The Catanese Group, an accounting firm that first opened in New York City in 1946, has opened a Hollidaysburg Office at 160 Canal Street, Suite 4 and will be hosting a Business Before Hours tomorrow, May 5th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. Catanese Group currently has five partners and eleven CPA’s. The Business Before Hours will feature a full breakfast and an opportunity to learn more about the services that the firm provides. There is no cost for Chamber Members to attend but registration is strongly suggested to allow for adequate food preparation. The cost for non-members to attend is $10.00. To register, call The Chamber at 943-8151 by noon today.

The presenter is Ron Culberson, speaker, humorist, and author. The sponsor of the workshop is UMPC Altoona Regional Health Services. The Visionary accommodates just 128 guests. Brochures on the 5-River European Cruise are available at the Chamber Office and at Heritage Travel. Call (814) 946-1600 for more information.

Leadership Blair County Class Project Fundraiser is Friday
The Leadership Blair County Class of 2015 is raising funds to support The Door, a center for at-risk youth founded 16 years ago in Bellwood. The Door provides a hot meal in a family-type environment every afternoon. The kitchen at the Door is decades old and not designed to support the 6,000 meals prepared annually. The Door receives no government funding and runs strictly on donations. The LBC Class of 2015 has embraced the renovation and modernization of the kitchen as their class project. They are asking for your help to ensure the success of their modernization project that will upgrade kitchen facilities and enhance operational safety, by purchasing a ticket to their fundraiser on May 8th at the Pinecroft Fire Hall from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. The ticket price is $25.00 per person and includes dinner, music and silent auction. You can purchase your ticket at the Blair County Chamber office or from any class member.
