Blair Business Mirror to Be Published Tomorrow
The June issue of the Blair Business Mirror will hit the newsstands tomorrow. The cover feature of this issue will focus on HomeWaters, a fly fishing facility located in Spruce Creek that is becoming a destination for business conferences and retreats. The Q&A feature is on local audiologist Karen Lemme. Other inside features include Maurices, Altoona Pipe & Steel and L.R. Webber Associates. If you aren’t able to secure a copy of the Blair Business Mirror, be patient.  We mail all of our member businesses a copy that you should receive by the end of the week.

Chamber to Be Well-Represented at “Chamber Day” at the Capitol
On Tuesday of this week, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry and the Pennsylvania Association of Chamber Professionals will co-sponsor the Annual “Chamber Day at the Capitol” in Harrisburg.  The event includes sessions on a variety of key issues affecting business in the Commonwealth. State Senator John Eichelberger will be a panelist in one of the sessions. Among the members of the Blair County Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee who will attend Chamber Day are: Chamber President Joe Hurd, Richard Fiore, Jr., Cory Gehret, Patrick Miles, Tim Balconi, Lois Kaneshiki, and Josh Barnhart.

Thursday’s “Breakfast Club” Presentation to Focus on Re-Purposing
The future of Blair County’s business and cultural districts will be better served by re-purposing older structures rather than knocking them down and building new ones. The next Chamber “Breakfast Club,” set for this Thursday, June 11th at 7:45 a.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park, will feature two local developers who ascribe to re-purposing and are currently involved with a project in Downtown Altoona that will preserve the former Winter’s Music Store. John Horell, president of KIZ Resources and Randy Green, part-owner of Solarshield, will provide a look at how the re-purposing process works, what federal and state tax credits are available and what plans are in the works to preserve other local structures. The cost to attend Breakfast Club is $18 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members.  To register, contact The Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

Leadership Blair County to Graduate Twenty-Four
On Thursday night, twenty-four more servant leaders will officially become graduates of the Blair County Chamber’s Leadership Blair County program. Graduation ceremonies will take place beginning at 5:00 p.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park. For more information on Leadership Blair County, contact Judy Juda at 943-8151 or email her at jjuda@blairchamber.com

Bechtel-Wherry, Chancellor at Penn State Altoona, will be the MC for the Business Excellence Dinner. Among those making brief comments about the honoree will be Allan Hancock, President of The Hancock Group; Duncan Campbell, President/CEO of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association, Jen Hoyer, Tim Sissler’s daughter; and Brittany Boslet, a local athlete.
