Chamber Annual Meeting & Award Presentation is Friday
The Blair County Chamber’s Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation will be held this Friday, January 29th at The Casino at Lakemont Park. The Annual Meeting features the conferring of several individual awards. Those awards are: the Athena Award, sponsored by First Commonwealth Bank; the Donna D. Gority Servant Leader Award, sponsored by Reliance Bank; the George Award, sponsored by Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries; the Joseph P. Rosenhamer Chamber Spirit Award, sponsored by P. Joseph Lehman, Inc. and Small Business Person of the Year, sponsored by First National Bank. The cost to attend the Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation, which begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends by 9:30, is $23/person. Call The Chamber to register at 943-8151 or register online.
Irwin, Michelone Appointed to Chamber Foundation Board
Brian Irwin of Irwin Financial, Inc. and Attorney Christopher Michelone of the law firm of McQuaide Blasko have been appointed to three-year terms on the Blair County Chamber Foundation Board of Directors. The appointment of Irwin and Michelone was made by the Chamber Board of Directors on January 21st.
Seven New Members Approved by Chamber Board
The Blair County Chamber’s Board of Directors approved the following new members at last Thursday’s meeting: BB&T (Branch Banking and Trust Company) of State College, Fox Chapel Iron Works of Hollidaysburg, KidsPeace of Duncansville, Merrill Lynch of State College, Primanti Bros. of Altoona, TKW Sales, Inc. of Altoona, and the United States Army Recruiting Center of Altoona.
Have You Picked-Up Your “Power Cards” Yet?
The Blair County Chamber’s new “Power Card” is generating an incredible amount of enthusiasm within the Chamber Membership and outside it as well. The biggest challenge: Getting the Power Cards to Chamber members. “We’re trying to avoid the cost of mailing them,” acknowledged Jessie Covert, The Chamber’s Vice-President of Sales & Membership Development. “So we’re hoping that our members are willing to stop-in to the office to pick them up. Otherwise, we’ll hope to get some of our committee volunteers to deliver them. Mailing is our last option.” Any Chamber-Member business willing to pick up their Power Cards can do so on Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Golden Living Center to Host “Business After Hours”
Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, located at 700 South Cayuga Avenue, Altoona, will be the host of the January Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. The event will be held on Thursday, January 28th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Cost to attend is $6 for Members pre-registered and $12 for non-members. Booths Available for 2016 Blair County Home & Garden Show
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce and the Blair Bedford Builders Association are accepting vendor booth reservations for the 46th annual Blair County Home & Garden Show to be held March 4, 5 & 6, 2016 at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. Exhibitor booth space is now open for home and garden-related businesses interested in showcasing their products or services. The show is also accepting vendor applications for the Home Treasures room. Home Treasures offers a boutique-style setting that features home interior items, candles, spices, hand-crafted items, and much more.
