Chamber, Operation Our Town to Partner on Thursday’s “Breakfast Club”
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce and Operation Our Town will partner on the next Breakfast Club program set for this Thursday, March 9th, at The Casino at Lakemont Park, beginning at 7:45 a.m. The program will highlight the accomplishments OOT has made throughout the past year. A special recognition is also planned in honor of Trooper Landon Weaver who was killed in the line of duty on December 30th. OOT will also present its Community Partnership Award which is given to a community partner who supports and furthers the mission of OOT. This year’s recipient is Blair Drug & Alcohol Partnerships. The cost to attend Breakfast Club is $20 for Chamber Members and $40 for non-members and includes a full breakfast buffet.  Corporate Sponsor of the March Breakfast Club is Joshua House. To register, contact the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

“Managing Volunteers” is Topic of Next Best Practices Forum
Volunteers are an incredible asset to a non-profit business.  But all too often, those businesses fail to take full advantage of what a volunteer brings to the table in terms of talent, time and enthusiasm. Join us for a panel discussion this Friday, March 10th from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development.  The panel for the Forum will consist of Alice Clark, former volunteer manager at Nittany Valley Hospital Center and former president of the board  of the PA Association for Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals; Cheryl White, executive director of Volunteers in Medicine in State College; and Sarah Anderson, Director of Lifelong Learning at Penn State. The discussion will center on fours issues: The gateway to providing opportunities for members of our community to improve your bottom line, ensuring there is community buy-in for an organization’s mission, strengthening an organization’s credibility in the eyes of the public, and answering the question: Is there such a thing as free help? The cost to attend is $5.00 for Chamber members and $10 for non-members.  All payments must be made prior to the event or at the door that morning.  The Chamber will not bill for this event. To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.
