Chamber Recognizes “All-Stars” for February
The Blair County Chamber’s ability to offer quality programming, events, recognition and advocacy efforts depends largely on the willingness of sponsors to step up to help underwrite the costs associated those efforts. So at the end of each month, we publish a list of businesses or individuals who sponsored anything Chamber-related during the month. They have helped us to make a difference in the business community. All-Stars for February are: Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries and Forney Financial Solutions.

Blair Business Mirror to Be Published Tuesday
The March issue of the Blair Business Mirror will be published on Tuesday as a supplement to the Altoona Mirror.  The cover story in this issue focuses attention on Women’s History Month and features several local women who have made significant impacts on Blair County. The Q&A feature is on Barry Newborn. A copy of the Blair Business Mirror will be mailed to every Chamber-member business later in the week.

Best Practices Forum Rescheduled for this Friday
Volunteers are an incredible asset to a non-profit business. But all too often, those businesses fail to take full advantage of what a volunteer brings to the table in terms of talent, time and enthusiasm. Join us for a panel discussion this Friday, March 17th from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development. The panel for the Forum will consist of Alice Clark, former volunteer manager at Nittany Valley Hospital Center and former president of the board  of the PA Association for Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals; Cheryl White, executive director of Volunteers in Medicine in State College; and Sarah Anderson, Director of Lifelong Learning at Penn State. The discussion will center on fours issues: The gateway to providing opportunities for members of our community to improve your bottom line, ensuring there is community buy-in for an organization’s mission, strengthening an organization’s credibility in the eyes of the public, and answering the question: Is there such a thing as free help? The cost to attend is $5.00 for Chamber Members and $10 for non-members. All payments must be made prior to the event or at the door that morning. The Chamber will not bill for this event. To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.
