Chamber Board Approves Seven New Members
At its March 16th meeting, the Blair County Chamber’s Board of Directors approved seven new members: Alternative Community Resource Program of Altoona, Blair County Planning Commission of Hollidaysburg, Hoss’s Steak & Sea House of Duncansville, Hoss’s Steak & Sea House of Altoona, Marzoni’s Brick Oven & Brewing Company of Altoona, Power House Subs of Altoona, and UGI Energy Services of Pittsburgh.

Dodson, Stratton Approved as Committee Chairs
Two Chamber committees will have new leadership, effective March 16th. The Chamber’s Board of Directors has approved Charlene Dodson to chair Blair County Retail and Kirsten Stratton to chair the Young Professionals of Blair County.

WE-LEaD Networking Event is Tonight at Park Hills
The Chamber’s WE-LEaD Committee will hold a Networking Event tonight from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Park Hills Golf Club. Corporate Sponsor of the event is Aerotek. The cost to attend is $20 for Chamber Members and $40 for non-members. To register, call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.
 

How Much is Your Business Worth? Attend Wednesday’s Workshop and See
The Blair County Chamber’s Small Business Partners will hold a workshop this Wednesday, March 22nd from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development.  The workshop, to be presented by Doug Christy of Pro/Vision Coaching, Inc., is entitled “What is Your Business Worth? – Why Your Business Performance and Personal Net Worth Depend Upon It.”  Christy will identify areas of concern that businesses should address to stay financially viable and he will explain how to calculate business value and increase it dramatically. The cost to attend the workshop is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.  Light refreshments will be served. To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.

McQuaide , Blasko to Host “Business After Hours”
The law firm of McQuaide, Blasko will host the next Chamber “Business After Hours this Thursday, March 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hollidaysburg Office, located at 601 Hawthorne Drive. Business After Hours is a networking event featuring food and door prizes. Cost to attend the After Hours is $10 per Chamber Member and $20 per non-member, pre-registered. “Business Before Hours” Scheduled for Hollidaysburg Area YMCA
There is more than one way for a business to offer a wellness program to its employees. That is a just one message that will be conveyed to those who attend the next Blair County Chamber “Business Before Hours,” set for this Friday, March 24th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA. The Y’s 2017 Community Wellness Challenge Series, which begins on March 25th with the Race of Champions, offers nine races in nine months. There is no cost for Chamber Members to attend Business Before Hours. Non-Members may attend for $10. Registration is required to help the YMCA determine how much food to prepare. To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.

Coalition on Sustainability to Hold Zero Waste Event
The Blair County Chamber’s Coalition on Sustainability will hold its third annual “Zero Waste Event” on April 7th beginning at noon at the Fiore “Blue Building,” located at 5508 Sixth Avenue (Rear), directly behind Fiore True Value. Zero Waste is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are re-used. This year’s event will begin with a buffet luncheon, followed by a presentation by Penn State Altoona’s ENACTUS students. The cost to attend the Zero Waste Event is $10/person to cover a portion of the luncheon cost. The rest of the event is funded through the sponsorship of Green Home Goods, Sheetz, Inc., Fiore True Value and Leonard S. Still Time to Qualify for Discount on Canyons and Casinos Trip
The Blair County Chamber’s next exciting trip – Canyons and Casinos – provides travelers an opportunity for a great experience without leaving the United States.  The trip is scheduled for June 16 – 24, 2017. The itinerary includes breathtaking views in the southwest including the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, Scottsdale and a two-night stay in Las Vegas.  Travelers will receive a $107 discount from Globus if their deposit is paid by April 15. Chamber Golf Classic Registration Open and Sponsorships Available
Registration is now open for the Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Chamber Golf Classic. The Classic will be held on Monday, May 8 at Iron Masters Country Club with a lunch/registration at 11:00 and tee off at Noon. If you are interested, simply complete the registration form and return to The Chamber. Sponsorships are also available for the Classic.
