Chamber Board of Directors Approves Three New Members
The Blair County Chamber’s Board of Directors approved three new members to the organization at its June 15th meeting. The new members are: Dale Oxygen, Inc. of Altoona; Evolution Expressions of Altoona; and Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark of Altoona.

Historical Society to Host “Business After Hours” at Baker Mansion
The next Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours, hosted by the Blair County Historical Society, will be held Thurs., June 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Baker Mansion. For over a century, the Blair County Historical Society (est. 1906) has served as caretakers of some of the area’s most significant cultural treasures. Through continued community support, more than 14 rooms have been returned to a Baker-era appearance in addition to a visitor center which houses the museum store and restrooms. One of the newest features in the mansion is the Gable’s Department Store exhibit, which will be the largest display ever housed in Baker Mansion. Business After Hours is a networking event featuring food and door prizes. Cost to attend the After Hours is $10 per Chamber Member and $20 per non-member. For more information or to make reservations call the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

Burchfield to Co-Chair Home and Garden Show Committee
Jimmy Burchfield of Burchfield & Son Landscaping will serve as co-chair of the Blair County Home & Garden Show Committee, representing the Blair County Chamber. Burchfield was approved by the Chamber Board at its June 15th meeting. He replaces Kathy Hileman whose term as chair expired earlier this year.

Deadline Approaching for Leadership Blair County Applications
The deadline is June 30th for anyone intending to apply for the Chamber’s Leadership Blair County Adult program. Applications are available on the Chamber Website at www.blairchamber.com

Sign-Up Period Continues for Chamber Trip to China
The Chamber will travel to China from April 20-28, 2018 with Citslinc, the company that has offered trips through chambers of commerce since 1995. Last year more than 20,000 people traveled to China on trips sponsored by chambers in the United States and Canada. The trip features stays in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou – all in 4 and 5 star hotels. It includes three meals a day, deluxe bus tours, fluent English-speaking tour guides and entrance fees for all attractions. The price of $2,299/person includes bus transportation to and from Dulles Airport, roundtrip flight on either Air China or China Eastern Airlines, all accommodations and all meals. The Chamber held an informational meeting about the trip on May 10th and will hold an additional meeting in the Fall. Anyone interested in acquiring information or registering for the trip should contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151.
