Data Security Workshop Set for December 18th
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce has put together a panel of data security experts who will be the featured presenters at a Data Security Workshop on December 18th from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Blair County Convention Center. The panel consists of: Josh Barnhart of NPC, Inc., Joe Harford of Reclamere, Inc., Tim Serbin of Link Computer Corporation, and David Wertz of PC Works Plus, Inc. It is a group that is well-versed on data security matters and who have witnessed the consequences of not being adequately prepared. Rather than simply creating a workshop based on a broad range of data security issues, the Chamber conducted a survey for members to weigh-in on specific concerns. Those survey results will form the basis of what is discussed at the workshop. The cost to attend the Data Security Workshop is $30 for Chamber Members and $40 for non-members. Chamber Board of Directors to Meet Thursday
The Board of Directors of the Blair County Chamber will meet on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development. A large part of the agenda will deal with the results of November’s Board/ Staff Retreat. The Board will review the findings and recommendations and will gear much of 2019’s strategy in those directions. This will also be the final Board meeting for several board members whose terms have expired. Those members are Lee Anne Ehredt, Kate Shaffer, Vic Gioiosa and Thad Will.
No “Business Bulletin” for Christmas Eve
The Chamber’s “Business Bulletin” will not be published on December 24th. The next publication date will be December 31st. As a reminder, anyone at your business is eligible to have the Business Bulletin emailed to them every Monday morning. Call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 to be added to the list. There’s no cost involved. Any business that would like to advertise on the Business Bulletin should contact Jessie Covert at the Chamber Office or email her at jcovert@blairchamber.com.
Nomination Period Continues for Annual Meeting Awards
The Blair County Chamber’s Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation will be held on January 25th at The Casino at Lakemont Park beginning at 7:30 a.m. A number of individual awards will be presented that morning. To nominate people for any of those awards, you can access a nomination form from the Chamber Website. Deadline to nominate is January 2, 2019. To register to attend the Annual Meeting or to become a sponsor of that event, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151.
Booths Available for 2019 Home & Garden Show
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce and the Blair Bedford Builders Association are accepting vendor booth reservations for the 49th annual Blair County Home & Garden Show to be held March 1, 2 & 3, 2019 at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. Exhibitor booth space is now open for home and garden-related businesses interested in showcasing their products or services. The show is also accepting vendor applications for the Home Treasures room. Home Treasures offers a boutique-style setting that features home interior items, candles, spices, hand-crafted items, and much more.
