BASICS/Rotary Career Fair Set for Wednesday at the Convention Center
The Sixth Annual BASICS/Rotary Career Fair will be held this Wednesday at the Blair County Convention Center. Nearly 1,200 high school sophomores from ten schools will take part in the event. The Chamber’s BASICS Committee and Blair County’s six Rotary Clubs collaborate on this event, which offers students seventy-six different careers to learn more about. Sponsors for the event are: South Hills School of Business & Technology, Mount Aloysius College, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, AmeriServ Bank, ARC Federal Credit Union, Reliance Bank, S&T Bank, First Commonwealth Bank, DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, and Hollidaysburg Area School District Foundation. For more information, contact Joe Hurd at (814) 943-8151 or email him.

Chamber Board to Continue to Look at Social Media Options
The Blair County Chamber’s Board of Directors will meet on Thursday at the Devorris Center for Business Development. Among the agenda items will be a discussion of the most effective way to help the Chamber to use social media to accomplish its goals of reaching its members and promoting what those members do. The Board will also hear a presentation on the electric program that the Chamber offers through Kinect Energy. Anyone wishing to address the Board should contact Joe Hurd by noon on Tuesday at 943-8151.

Committee of Non-Profits to Hold Legislative Breakfast
The Blair County Chamber’s Committee of Non-Profit Businesses will hold its Eighth Annual Legislative Breakfast on April 26th from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at The Arc of Blair County. State Senator Judy Ward and State Representatives Jim Gregory and Lou Schmitt will attend and will answer questions prepared by the committee. The event will feature a buffet breakfast followed by the Q&A session. “This is our signature event as it pertains to meeting as a group with elected officials,” explained Andrea Schurr of ALSM, who chairs the committee. “It’s a great opportunity to really hone-in on issues that pertain specifically to non-profits. We greatly appreciate that our elected officials take the time to learn about what’s important to us and also share with us their insight on how we can gain better traction in Harrisburg.” The cost to attend the Legislative Breakfast is $20 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members. To register to attend, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.

Time to Redeem Your “Buy Here Bucks”

For more information, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151.
