Any Chamber Member interested in attending the meeting or becoming part of the committee, should contact Joe Hurd at 943-8151 or email him.

Breakfast Club to Feature Dr. Zane Gates
Dr. Zane Gates, founder of Empower3 Center for Health will be the keynote speaker at the September 12th Chamber Breakfast Club. Dr. Gates will speak about a new healthcare program geared to small businesses that his company will pilot to The Chamber encouraging more of those businesses to offer coverage to uninsured employees. “Chamber Chat” Geared to Prospective Members
On September 23rd at 2:00 p.m., a “Chamber Chat” will be held at the Devorris Center for Business Development. This interactive forum will allow non-Chamber members to learn more about the organization.  There is no obligation to join The Chamber. Chamber Chat will last approximately one hour. There is no cost to attend and no need to pre-register.

“Chamber Check-Up” is for Members Wanting to Learn More
Many members of The Chamber were unable to attend a New Member Orientation session when they first joined. To help them learn more about the organization and some ways that they can more actively participate, The Chamber is holding a “Chamber Check-Up” program on September 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development. This free program will last no more than one hour and there is no need to pre-register.

Registrations Being Accepted for Chamber’s China Trip
Last Monday’s meeting concerning The Chamber’s next China Trip (April 4-12, 2014) drew quite a bit of interest. If you weren’t able to be there, The Chamber has a wealth of information to help you catch-up.  Simply stop-by the Chamber Office, located in the Devorris Center for Business Development. This will be the third trip to China in the past four years and the cost is still a ridiculously low $2,399 pp/dou.occ., which includes all flights, meals and 5-star hotels. It’s the trip of a lifetime at a price that can’t be beat!

Would You Like to Be a U.S. Chamber Member – Free?
The Blair County Chamber has accepted an invitation to be part of the United States Chamber of Commerce Federation Program which would provide a free membership to any of our members that fit the program criteria. That criteria is that businesses must have total annual revenue of less than $10 million, cannot be a charity, non-profit organization, government entity or religious/educational institution or be a current, paying U.S. Chamber member. The Chamber will register all members that meet those guidelines unless the member indicates that they do not wish to participate in the Federation Program. To opt-out, contact Joe Hurd at 943-8151 or email him at jhurd@blairchamber.com.

Southern Alleghenies to Hold Business Resource Expo
This Thursday, September 5th, the Southern Alleghenies Business Resource Network, in cooperation with The Chamber, will hold “The Alleghenies Business Resource Expo” from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Blair County Convention Center. This event provides ample opportunity for businesses of all sizes to meet one-on-one with a network of non-profit organizations that can assist in growing or maintaining a business. There is no cost to attend. To register, call (855) 661-0094 or email saprep@sapdc.org.
