Chamber Office Will Be Closed for Memorial Day

Hippo, Fiore to Address Executive Roundtable
The Blair County Chamber’s Executive Roundtable will meet on Wednesday beginning at 7:30 a.m. at The Blairmont Club. Guest speakers for the meeting will be Attorney Wayne Hippo and Richard Fiore, Jr. who chair and vice-chair the City of Altoona Government Study Commission. Their presentation will update Roundtable members on the current progress made by the Commission and the possible impact on business that a change in the form of the City’s government might have. GRYP Lunch ‘n’ Learn to Focus on Workplace Conflict Resolution
A GRYP Lunch ‘n’ Learn will be held at Marzoni’s in Duncansville from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday.  “Workplace Conflict Resolution” will be presented by Rick Capozzi. Cost is $22 for GRYP members and $30 for non-members, 3 or more from the same business is $17 per person. Price includes a lunch selection from a limited menu. Epworth Manor to Host Thursday’s “Business After Hours”
The Chamber heads north on Thursday as Epworth Manor in Tyrone will host the next “Business After Hours” from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Epworth Manor is located at 925 S. Lincoln Avenue. The cost to attend is $6.00 for Chamber Members in advance and $7.00 at the door. Non-members can attend for $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. Business Excellence Dinner Only Two Weeks Away
On June 9th, the Blair County Chamber will hold its Annual Business Excellence Dinner in which it will honor Bill Thompson, Jr. with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Business Excellence. The event, one of The Chamber’s most prestigious, is set for The Casino at Lakemont Park with a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. and dinner beginning at 6:45. “Breakfast Club” Speaker Will Tout the Merits of Volunteerism
Nancy Kukovich, CEO of Adelphoi USA in Latrobe and former President of United Way of Pennsylvania will be the speaker at the next Chamber “Breakfast Club, set for June 12th at 7:45 a.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park. Kukovich will speak about the important role of volunteers to a healthy community. Her appearance coincides with the presentation of The Chamber’s “George Award” which is presented annually to a resident of Blair County who has improved the quality of the community through their volunteer efforts. Ruth Weaver of Hollidaysburg, a former trust officer with Hollidaysburg Trust Company and an active volunteer for several area non-profits will be the 2014 recipient of that award. Once again this year, Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries will partner with The Chamber on the award. Co-sponsors of the Breakfast Club are: Teeter Group, Brumbaugh Insurance Group, D.B. The Blair County Chamber of Commerce is continuing to accept nominations for its 2014 Business Hall of Fame and General Business Awards of Distinction Program, which honors local businesses that have made contributions to the improvement of the business climate of Blair County. The Blair County Chamber Business Hall of Fame and General Business Awards of Distinction is an evening which honors a select group of businesses who have exceeded the parameters of what most view as successful. Awarding categories include: Hall of Fame, Heritage, Excellence in Small Business, Young Emerging Business, Technology, Committee Choice, Community Service, Safety and Sustainability. Nominate early!
