A sold-out Highmark/Chamber Golf Classic will tee-off at noon today at Iron Masters Country Club. The event is one of The Chamber’s great networking opportunities, combining great food and drink with a day of fun and socializing. Blair Business Mirror to Be Published Tuesday
The May edition of the Blair Business Mirror hits the streets tomorrow as a supplement to the Altoona Mirror. The cover story in this issue is a close-up look at Improved Dwellings for Altoona (IDA), one of Blair County’s great success stories. Dr. Ross to Speak at Thursday’s Chamber “Breakfast Club”
The next Chamber Breakfast Club is scheduled for this Thursday, May 14 from 7:45 - 9:00 a.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park. Speaker is Dr. Lanny Ross, Retired Educator and Visionary. Eighth grade students from Blair County will be recognized with Essay Contest Awards and graduating seniors will be recognized with Attendance Counts Awards for their longest history of perfect attendance. Sponsor for the Breakfast Club is Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. Cost to attend is $18 for Chamber Members and $30 for Non-Members. Leadership Blair County Youth to Graduate 2015 Class
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Blair County Youth (LBCY) program will graduate 24 students representing all Blair County school districts. The ceremony will take place at the Port Sky Café at Penn State Altoona beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. LBCY is a Blair County Chamber of Commerce program open to high school sophomores focusing on servant leadership. The youth program is formatted similarly to The Chamber’s adult leadership program. LBCY has been used as a model for leadership youth programs throughout Pennsylvania and the tri-state region. The LBCY curriculum includes an overnight retreat, monthly sessions on community focused topics and a class project. “Chamber Night at the Curve” Set for Thursday
Chamber Night at the Curve will be held next Thursday, May 14th. The game starts at 6:00 p.m. Nine chambers in the region are expected to participate. Leadership Adult Session Focuses on Future Search, Mini Projects
The eighth session of The Chamber’s Leadership Blair County Adult program will be held on Friday at Joshua House in Tyrone. The session will begin with reports from class members about their mini-projects. Registrations Continue for Chamber’s “Five Rivers” Cruise
The Blair County Chamber is heading to Europe in late Fall for its first-ever river cruise. The cruise is being done in cooperation with Heritage Travel. The special wine-themed “5-River European Cruise” will depart from the Chamber Office in the Devorris Center for Business Development on November 3rd, will fly from Dulles International Airport for an overnight flight to Prague and will return on November 13th from Paris. The trip will include one-night sightseeing stays at 5-star hotels in both Prague and Paris with the river cruise in-between. The Chamber trip will feature excursions on the Vistava, Main, Rhine, Moselle and Seine rivers via Avalon Waterways “Visionary,” considered the finest river vessel in Europe. Next “Role Models” Program Scheduled for May 28th
The Blair County Chamber’s “Role Models” program is back and two area business leaders will have an opportunity to share their business expertise with others in the business community.
Michael Fiore, Executive Vice-President of Leonard S. Fiore, Inc. of Altoona, and Joe Meadows, a partner in J.V. Meadows & Sons, Inc. of Duncansville will be the Role Models on Thursday, May 28th from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Blair County Convention Center.
