Executive Committee, BHLH Committee to Meet With UPMC
Members of The Chamber’s Executive Committee, Executive Committee members of the Altoona-Blair County Development Corporation and members of the Buy Here. Live Here. Committee will meet today with representatives from UPMC to discuss purchasing practices at UPMC Altoona. The Chamber had expressed concern with UPMC’s decisions to discontinue purchasing contracts with local businesses in favor of providers from outside the area. “We appreciate the opportunity to sit down with UPMC administrators to discuss ways to keep more of their buying taking place within Blair County,” explained Chamber President Joe Hurd. “As a facility interested in being a significant part of our community, these kinds of discussions are important to how they establish that reputation.”

Chamber Board of Directors Meets Thursday
The Board of Directors of the Blair County Chamber will meet this Thursday beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development. Among the agenda items will be consideration of the establishment of a Young Entrepreneurs Academy program and a recap of Monday’s meeting on purchasing with representatives of UPMC. To address the Board, contact Joe Hurd by no later than noon on Tuesday at 943-8151.

Using a world-class service model, developed by founders and Altoona natives, Vincent and Ann Boslet-Dellaposta, WPS has built a consistent, high level service. WPS, Inc. is the first in the area to provide 3D printing services. Demonstrations will be available during Business After Hours. Business After Hours is a laid-back networking event.
