Executive Roundtable to Hear Presentation From Superintendent
Like most school districts in Pennsylvania, the Altoona Area School District faces a number of key challenges that also impact the local business community. The school’s new superintendent, John Kopicki, will share his insight on how his district plans to address those challenges at Wednesday’s meeting of The Chamber’s Executive Roundtable. The meeting will be held at The Blairmont Club beginning at 7:30 a.m. For more information on the Executive Roundtable, contact Joe Hurd at 943-8151 or email him at jhurd@blairchamber.com

Chamber Board of Directors to Consider 2016 Officers
When the Chamber Board of Directors meets on Thursday at the Devorris Center, one immediate item of business will be to approve a slate of officers for 2016. That slate will include: Board Chair, Board Chair-elect, Treasurer, and three Vice-Presidents that will oversee the divisions within the committee structure. The Board will also discuss priorities for 2016. To address the Board at Thursday’s meeting, contact Joe Hurd at 943-8151 by noon on Tuesday.

Altoona Community Theatre Hosting Young Professionals
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals of Blair County is inviting young professionals to a networking event and Mishler Theatre performance, hosted by Altoona Community Theatre, this Thursday, Nov. 19.  A Networking Happy Hour, featuring heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages, will be held at the ACT rehearsal hall, 1213 Twelfth Street, Altoona, from 5 - 7 p.m.  Following the networking event will be a performance of the new Mel Brooks musical, Young Frankenstein, 7:30 p.m., at the Mishler Theatre. Cost for tickets is $25 per person and includes the Networking Happy Hour and a reserved seat at the show. Advanced reservations are required by calling the Blair County Chamber of Commerce at 814-943-8151, or register online. All payments will be made at the door the night of the event. Mountain Research hosting Business After Hours on Thursday

Safety Program to Focus on Personal Protective Equipment
The next educational program of The Chamber’s Safety Committee will cover the basics of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including how to determine what you need, selecting the appropriate PPE and staying OSHA compliant in the process. The program will be held on Friday, November 20th from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Hoss’s in Duncansville. Speakers will be Tim Rea and Randy Santone from Innovative Technologies, Inc. and Adam Hetrick and Matt Ference from Mountain Research. The cost to attend is $20 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members. A full breakfast is included. The sponsor of the safety program is Albemarle Corporation. To register, call The Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

Chamber Continues 2016 China Trip Registration
Registration continues for the 2016 Chamber Trip to China. The nine-day excursion will take place from April 7-16, 2016 and will once again be conducted through Citslinc. The price remains incredible at $2199 (including flights, meals and all accommodations at 5-star hotels.) The only significant change from the three previous Chamber trips is that the flight originates at Dulles Airport instead of JFK – a real plus to local travelers. Travel to Dulles from Altoona and back is included as part of the trip. For more information, call The Chamber at (814) 943-8151.

Registration Underway for Chamber Trip to Germany
If an April trip to China doesn’t satisfy your travel needs, have we got a deal for you! From September 18-29, the Blair County Chamber and Classic Travel will offer a 12-day, fully escorted trip to Germany. The trip covers Germany’s most famous cities, includes a day cruise on the Rhine River and also takes place during Oktoberfest.  For further information, call The Chamber at 943-8151.
