Chamber Office Closed Monday
In recognition of the New Year’s holiday, the Blair County Chamber Office will be closed on Monday, January 2nd. The office will re-open on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. For information on the Chamber or to register for Chamber programs or events while the office is closed, visit the Chamber Website at www.blairchamber.com.

Chamber Recognizes “All-Stars” for December
The Blair County Chamber’s ability to offer quality programming, events, recognition and advocacy efforts depends largely on the willingness of sponsors to step up to help underwrite the costs associated those efforts. So at the end of each month, we publish a list of businesses or individuals who sponsored anything Chamber-related during the month. They have helped us to make a difference in the business community. All-Stars for December are: Advantage Resource Group, Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries and Keller Engineers.

Blair County Commissioners to Speak at Chamber “Breakfast Club”
The Blair County Commissioners will be the special guests at the January 12th Chamber “Breakfast Club.” Once again in 2017, the format will be Q&A with the questions being submitted by Chamber members and delivered by Cory Gehret, chair of the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee. If you have a question that you’d like to submit for consideration, please email it to jhurd@blairchamber.com by no later than December 30th. The cost to attend the Breakfast Club is $20 for Chamber members and $40 for non-members.  A full breakfast buffet is included in the cost. To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Corporate sponsor of the January Breakfast Club is Altoona-Blair County Airport.

Young Professionals Hosting Event on Community Involvement
On January 17th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Slep Student Center at Penn State Altoona, the Young Professionals of Blair County will host “The Significance and Power of Being Involved in Your Community as a Young Professional.” The event will feature a panel discussion comprised of Michael Fiore of Leonard S. Fiore, Inc., Christie Jordan of DiVersity Salon & Spa and Joe Sheetz of Sheetz, Inc. Corporate Sponsor of the event is PSECU. There is no cost to attend the YP event and light refreshments will be provided. Space, however, is limited so please register by contacting the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or registering online.

Sponsorships Still Available for Chamber Annual Meeting
The Blair County Chamber will officially begin its business year on January 27th when it holds its Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation beginning at 7:30 a.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park. The event will take a reflective look at the organization’s accomplishments from 2016, will swear-in the 2017 Board of Directors and will present five special awards to individuals who played key roles in furthering the agenda of the business community last year. The awards that the Chamber will present on the 27th will be: The Athena Ward, sponsored by First Commonwealth Bank; Donna D. Gority Servant Leadership Award, sponsored by Reliance Bank; George Award, sponsored by Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries; Joseph P. Rosenhamer Chamber Spirit Award, sponsored by P. Joseph Lehman, Inc; and Small Business Person of the Year, sponsored by First National Bank. Nomination forms for those awards are available at the Chamber Office and by clicking here. The deadline to nominate is January 2, 2017. There are also sponsorships available to businesses interested in supporting the Annual Meeting. For information on how to get your business’s name attached to a significant event at a reasonable price, call Jessie Covert at 943-8151 or email her at jcovert@blairchamber.com. Lastly, to reserve a seat at the Annual Meeting & Awards Presentation, call the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online. The cost to attend is $24/person which includes a full buffet breakfast.

Congratulations . . .
