Chamber Recognizes “All-Stars” for Marchcindy
The Blair County Chamber’s ability to offer quality programming, events, recognition and advocacy efforts depends largely on the willingness of sponsors to step up to help underwrite the costs associated those efforts.  So at the end of each month, we publish a list of businesses or individuals who sponsored anything Chamber-related during the month. They have helped us to make a difference in the business community. All-Stars for March are: Blair Companies, Circle of Life Holistic Health Center, Inc., Empower Business Solutions, Fulton Financial Advisors, Forney Team, Holiday Pools & Spas, Home Depot, Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, Leonard S. Fiore, Inc., McLanahan Corporation, Mountain Road Structures, PennCrest BANK, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, Reliance Bank, Roaring Spring Water, Roberts Oxygen, Roofworks USA, Seltzer Financial Strategies, Sheetz, Inc., Stuckey Automotive, The Hite Company, A Division of Mayer, UPMC Altoona and Ward Transport & Logistics Corp, Window World of Altoona.

Small Business Partners to Hold Speed Networking Program
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Partners will host a Speed Networking event this Thursday, April 4, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m., at the Devorris Center for Business Development, located at 3900 Industrial Park Drive, Altoona. The cost to attend is $10 for Chamber Members and $20 for non-members. All business professionals are encouraged to attend. For additional information or to register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151, or register online.

ARC to Host Next “Business Before Hours”
ARC Federal Credit Union will host the next Chamber “Business Before Hours” on April 10th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at 1919 Seventh Avenue in Altoona. At the conclusion of the event, the Chamber Ambassadors will conduct a ribbon cutting to celebrate ARC’s newly expanded facilities. The day will include giveaways to members and a live radio broadcast on WALY 103.9 from noon until 2:00 p.m. There is no cost for Chamber members to attend the Business Before Hours. Non-members may attend for $10. Registration is required. Call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 to register or register online.

Hanrahan to Speak at April “Breakfast Club”
One of the top relief pitchers for the Pittsburgh Pirates during the past decade will be the speaker at the April 11th Blair County Chamber “Breakfast Club.” Joel Hanrahan, known affectionately as “The Hammer,” pitched for the Pirates from 2009 until 2012 when he was traded to the Boston Red Sox. Hanrahan was named to Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in both 2012 and 2013. The 37-year-old native of Des Moines, Iowa was named pitching coach for the Altoona Curve earlier this year. He will be introduced at the Breakfast Club by Curve General Manager Derek Martin. The cost to attend Breakfast Club is $20 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members and includes a full breakfast buffet. For more information or to make reservations call the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online. Corporate sponsor of the April Breakfast Club is Coach 4 Retirees.

Time to Redeem Your “Buy Here Bucks”
A Chamber initiative created to encourage greater sales of products and services at local retailers and hospitality businesses has been discontinued. The “Buy Here Bucks” gift certificate program, which began a little more than a year ago, fell short of expectations both in terms of participation and financial viability. Anyone who has purchased “Buy Here Bucks” can still redeem them at the businesses that accept them (that list is on the Chamber Website at www.blairchamber.com) until midnight on May 24, 2019. For more information, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151.
