Albemarle Corporation Fine Chemicals Services is located 15 miles northeast of Altoona, in north central Pennsylvania. The Plant is a custom batch chemical manufacturer, supplying products and services to the life sciences and fine chemical industries. The facility offers single-source services including R&D, small-scale production from gram to multi-kilo quantities, and custom chemical manufacturing on a kilo lab, pilot, semi-commercial and commercial scale. Flexibility is a hallmark of the Tyrone which is especially well equipped for complex, multi-step chemical syntheses. The Tyrone processing equipment includes glass-lined, stainless steel, and Hastelloy reactors and autoclaves. Reactor capacities range from 50 to 4,000 gallons, and total production capacity exceeds 60,000 gallons. Fifty to seventy different chemicals are manufactured on an annual basis.
