The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Altoona is pleased to announce the opening of the museum’s A Glorious Tradition exhibition of paintings from the museum’s permanent collection. The exhibition opened on March 12th and will remain on view through Friday, June 18, 2021. Admission to the museum is always free during our hours of operation from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Painting has long been a romantic, nostalgic tradition steeped in the timeless beauty of the medium. It’s been a tool to glorify individuals, visualize myths, and create legends. At its core, traditional painting is an ode to beauty. It is a constant celebration of life’s visual pleasures and peculiarities. From portraits of significant figures to detailed still life paintings, viewers will encounter reality translated through paint. For news and announcements on events for Earth Day and throughout this exhibition supporting the theme, subscribe to our website at https://www.sama-art.org/. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art is located in the Brett Building at 1210 11th Avenue Altoona, PA 16601. The museum is an accessible facility and is open to the public free of charge.
