Highmark/Chamber Golf Classic Winners Announced
The Highmark/Chamber Golf Classic, held May 9th at Iron Masters Country Club yielded the following winners: 1st Place (A Team) – Jerad Rosendahl, Dan Neilly, Ben Ritchey and Michael Micionsky of First Commonwealth Bank; (B Team) – Bill Ritenour, Charley Taylor and Gary Bradley of PennCrest Bank. 2nd Place (A Team) – Jason Ritchey, Matt Dillon, Steve Metzger and Ryan Stoltz of Curry Supply; (B Team) – Robert Kuntz, Scott Salem, Mike Drew and Chad Getty of the Reschini Group. 3rd Place (A Team) – Derek Martin, Tom Koehle, Rick Wareham and Bob Hippo; and (B Team) – Tim Balconi, Mike Corso, Bob Strawser and Justin Kobuck of UPMC Altoona Foundation.
Executive Roundtable to Hear Reassessment Update
As the final numbers on Property Tax Reassessment for Blair County are prepared for release, the Chamber’s Executive Roundtable will hear an update on the process that will be in place to handle the anticipated appeals from local taxpayers. Blair County Commissioner Terry Tomassetti and Tim Barr, Vice-President of Evaluator Services and Technology, will speak at the Roundtable meeting on Wednesday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at The Blairmont Club in Hollidaysburg. Chamber Board to Continue to Move Ahead on Strategic Planning
When the Blair County Chamber’s Board of Directors meets on Thursday, the Board will hear a report from a subcommittee headed by chair-elect Matt Stuckey on key issues impacting the strategic planning process. The Chamber is hoping to develop and implement a new plan before the end of 2016. The Board will also hear a recommendation from the Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee relative to the committee’s look at a possible Political Action Committee (PAC) for the Chamber. Stoney Point Events to Host “Business After Hours”
The next Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will be held this Thursday, May 19th, with special hours from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stoney Point Events, located at 284 Stoney Point, Altoona.
Stoney Point Events is known for incredible weddings, receptions, anniversaries, birthdays, proms, and more. They also offer off-premise services such as catering, and DJ. Stoney Point will be hosting Business After Hours at their rustic-themed venue and outside Courtyard, with culinary delights from Chef Ray. Business After Hours is a networking event featuring fantastic food and door prizes. Cost to attend the After Hours is $6 per Chamber Member and $12 per Non-Member pre-registered. Safety Program on Trucking Scheduled for This Friday
The next Chamber Safety Program has been set for this Friday, May 20th from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. at Hoss's Steak and Sea House in Duncansville. The topic will be "Share the Road". The presenter is Joe Drugo, Senior Safety Training for Ward Trucking. Attendees will learn about the no-zone that all trucks have, limitations of trucks, seven safety tips we can all live by and will have the opportunity to sit in a tractor to see the no-zone first hand. Cost to attend is $20 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members. Breakfast is included. To make reservations, call the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.
Leadership Adult Session to Focus on the Future
The eighth session of the Chamber’s Leadership Blair County Adult program will be held this Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Joshua House in Tyrone. The agenda will include Servant Leader Reports, Mini-Project Presentations and several exercises on “Future Search.” There will also be a Grad Presentation Discussion. Informational Meeting Set for Chamber’s Costa Rica Trip
The Blair County Chamber’s Costa Rica Trip, from October 17-25, is a great opportunity to experience both the beach and the rain forest of that exotic Central American country. The cost is just $2,899 (double). That cost includes ground transportation to and from the airport, round-trip air, air taxes and fees/surcharges, hotel transfers, 13 meals and a variety of tours. There is also an array of optional tours and a 4-day, 3-night Jungle Adventure Post Tour Extension. Business Excellence Dinner Reservations Available
Marty Marasco, the President/CEO of Altoona-Blair County Development Corporation, will be the 15th recipient of the Chamber’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Business Excellence. The award will be presented at the Annual Business Excellence Dinner on June 13th at The Casino at Lakemont Park.
