Blair Business Mirror to Be Published Tomorrow
The July issue of the Blair Business Mirror will be published on Tuesday as a supplement to the Altoona Mirror. The cover story this month will feature a sustainability event hosted at Sheetz Distribution Center in Claysburg. Inside features include a Q&A column with Joe Keller of Keller Engineers and a look at a Blair County business – Veeder-Root – that is marking an important anniversary. A copy of the Blair Business Mirror will be mailed to each Chamber-member business by the end of the week.
Southern Airways Express Invites Chamber Members to Reception
Southern Airways Express is the new air service provider at the Altoona-Blair County Airport and the company is hoping that members of the Blair County Chamber will take a good look at the many services that they provide. As an incentive, Southern Airways is holding a ribbon-cutting, open house and cocktail reception on July 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the airport. The event includes hors d’oeuvres, wine and craft beer. There will also be an opportunity to win a special prize – roundtrip airfare for two and a two-night stay in Las Vegas. There is no cost to attend and Chamber Members may brings guests as well. Registration is essential so call (800) 329-0485 to register.
ALSM to Host Next “Business After Hours”
The next Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will be held on Thursday, July 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, located at 998 Logan Boulevard, Altoona. Business After Hours is a networking event featuring fantastic food and door prizes. Cost to attend the After Hours is $6 per Chamber Member and $12 per Non-Member pre-registered. Chamber Foundation Continues Solicitation for LBC Youth Sponsors
The Blair County Chamber Foundation continues the process of soliciting sponsors to fund the 2017 Leadership Blair County Youth program. The program is completely funded through corporate and individual donations. Letters have been sent to past donors and to people who have expressed interest in the LBCY program. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Cindy Cessna at 943-8151 or email her at ccessna@blairchamber.com.
“Backbone Bash” Set for August 12th
Small businesses (50 employees or fewer) that are members of the Blair County Chamber will get a well-deserved night out on August 12th as the annual “Backbone Bash” will be held at Park Hills Golf Club from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. The event will include a DJ, a photo booth, karaoke, a Cornhole tournament, Ladderball, a Putting Contest and a whole lot of opportunity for networking and socializing. The menu for the evening will be primarily “cookout food,” beer and soda. The entire cost for Chamber members is just $10/person. Some sponsorships still remain. Interested businesses should contact Jessie Covert at (814) 943-8151 or email her at jcovert@blairchamber.com. The Backbone Bash will also feature door prizes with the grand prize being an i-pad. There will be prizes as well for the winners of the Cornhole and Putting contests. To register for the Bash, contact the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online. Only employees of Chamber small businesses and their guests can attend this event.
