Leadership Blair County Interviews Begin This Week
Interviews for the 2017 Class of the Chamber’s Leadership Blair County program will begin this week at the Chamber Office. An LBC Selection Subcommittee will conduct the interviews. A class of twenty-four will be selected. For more information on Leadership Blair County, contact the Chamber at 943-8151 or visit the Chamber Website.

Farm-City “Give Back Day” Set for Next Week
For several years, the Blair County Chamber’s Farm-City Committee has sponsored a Dairy Day event in June – National Dairy Month – which focused attention on the significant impact that dairy products have on the local economy. In 2016, however, the committee decided to change that focus to July’s “National Ice Cream Month” observance. This year’s promotional event will be more than just attention-getting.  One of the ongoing challenges identified by many food banks in Blair County is the lack of milk available to provide to those whose diets seldom include it. To help remedy that problem, the Farm-City Committee, in cooperation with Ritchey’s Dairy, Allied Milk Producers and SubZero Ice Cream & Yogurt, will hold a “Give Back Day” on July 29th at Ritchey’s Dairy in Martinsburg. The day will feature single-scoop ice cream cones all day (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.) for just $1.00 with the proceeds going toward the purchase of milk that will then be provided to as many local food banks as possible. Prior to the event in Martinsburg, SubZero will accept coupons from customers on July 25-27 which will result in $1/customer being donated to the Give Back Day effort. Anyone who would like to access a SubZero coupon should contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or click here.

Chamber Foundation Continues Solicitation for LBC Youth Sponsors
The Blair County Chamber Foundation continues the process of soliciting sponsors to fund the 2017 Leadership Blair County Youth program. The program is completely funded through corporate and individual donations. Letters have been sent to past donors and to people who have expressed interest in the LBCY program. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Cindy Cessna at 943-8151 or email her at ccessna@blairchamber.com

“Backbone Bash” Set for August 12th
Small businesses (50 employees or fewer) that are members of the Blair County Chamber will get a well-deserved night out on August 12th as the annual “Backbone Bash” will be held at Park Hills Golf Club from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. The event will include a DJ, a photo booth, karaoke, a Cornhole tournament, Ladderball, a Putting Contest and a whole lot of opportunity for networking and socializing. The menu for the evening will be primarily “cookout food,” beer and soda. The entire cost for Chamber members is just $10/person. Some sponsorships still remain. Interested businesses should contact Jessie Covert at (814) 943-8151 or email her at jcovert@blairchamber.com. The Backbone Bash will also feature door prizes with the grand prize being an i-pad. There will be prizes as well for the winners of the Cornhole and Putting contests. To register for the Bash, contact the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online. Only employees of Chamber small businesses and their guests can attend this event.
