WE-LEaD Networking Event at Park Hills Tonight
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce WE-LEaD (Women Encouraging – Leadership, Education and Development) program will host a networking event tonight, Oct. 31st, from 5 - 7 p.m. on the patio at Park Hills Golf Club. The networking event, sponsored by Girls Night Out, will feature hot hors d’oeuvres and beverages. WE-LEaD is an innovative program of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce that provides networking and educational programs throughout the year. WE-LEaD focuses on issues that women in business typically face on a daily basis. The cost to attend is $20 for Chamber Members and $40 for non-members and includes two complimentary beverage tickets. To register, contact The Chamber at 943-8151 by no later than 1:00 p.m. today.

Annual Farm-City Dinner is Tomorrow Night
Tickets are still available for the Chamber's Annual Farm-City Dinner to be held on Tuesday, November 1 at the Freedom Township Fire Hall. Cost per ticket is $20.00 and includes a family-style turkey dinner with all the fixings. Help us honor Jean Sollenberger with the 2016 ACE Award. Guest Speaker will be Richard Roush, Dean, College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University. The evening starts at 6:30 p.m. with a milk/punch reception and the dinner/program being at 7:00.

Senator Eichelberger to speak at November “Breakfast Club”
State Senator John Eichelberger will be the Chamber’s guest speaker at the next Breakfast Club, set for November 10th at 7:45 a.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park. In keeping with tradition regarding the appearances by elected officials at Breakfast Club, the format will be a Q&A moderated by Richard Fiore, Jr., chair of the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee. Questions will be determined through submissions from members of the Blair County Chamber. “We invite Chamber members to get involved in our committee’s advocacy process by submitting questions for the Senator,” Fiore pointed out. “Our committee provides opportunities for business to have a voice at all levels of government.” The cost to attend Breakfast Club is $18 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members. A full buffet breakfast is included in the cost. To register, call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Corporate sponsor of the November Breakfast Club is Leonard S. Fiore, Inc..

Privilege Pages: A Great Way to Market a Product or Event
As the Holiday Season approaches, one effective and inexpensive way to get the word out about an event, program or product associated with your business or organization is to reserve a Privilege Page. What are Privilege Pages? They are the flyers that are inserted into the mailed copies of the Blair Business Mirror each month. They reach the 1,100 business that are on the Chamber’s mailing list. If you are looking to get the word out to the business community, this is an ideal way.  And the cost is just $125 (plus you provide the 1,100 copies of your flyer). The deadlines to provide the flyers for the next three insertions are: November 4th, December 9th and January 6th. To reserve a space or for more information, call Jessie Covert at 943-8151 or email her at jcovert@blairchamber.com

Deadline Approaching for Corporate Wellness Challenge Registration
If your business intends to participate in the 2017 Blair County Corporate Wellness Challenge and you haven’t confirmed that participation, you have a little more than a week to sign-up. The Orientation Meeting for all businesses that plan to be part of the Challenge is set for November 9th from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Stuckey Ford in Hollidaysburg. The Orientation will include a description of the competition, a review of the guidelines and an opportunity to ask questions. To register, contact the Chamber at 943-8151.

Wake-Up to Wellness is November 15th
The Blair County Chamber’s Workplace Wellness Committee and the Healthy Blair County Coalition are partnering on the next “Wake-Up to Wellness” program on November 15th from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Altoona Grand Hotel. This program, entitled “Are You Providing a Safe and Healthy Workplace?” will focus on how businesses can look at a variety of measures that help make employees more aware of the benefits of good health as well as the consequences of making poor health decisions. “Much of this program will be geared toward helping businesses become tobacco-free workplaces,” explained Coleen Heim, who heads the Healthy Blair County Coalition but also serves on the Workplace Wellness Committee. “Many businesses aren’t aware of the outstanding resources that exist and how those resources have already impacted the lives of many people in our community.” The cost to attend Wake-Up to Wellness is just $10/person and includes a continental breakfast. Registration is required. To register, call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Healthy Blair County Coalition is the facility sponsor for this event.

Discount Extended for “Canyons and Casinos” Trip
The Blair County Chamber’s first trip of 2017 will be “Canyons and Casinos” and until November 15th anyone paying a deposit will receive a discount of $313.00. The trip will depart on June 16th and return on the 24th. That 8-night trip will begin with a flight to Phoenix, will include a number of guided motor coach tours and will conclude with two days in Las Vegas prior to flying home. The trip is the Chamber’s way to recognize the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.  Heritage Travel and Globus Family of Brands are partners with the Chamber on the Canyons and Casinos Trip. For more information or to book a reservation, call Heritage Travel at (814) 946-1600.
