Chamber Recognizes “All-Stars” for November
The Blair County Chamber’s ability to offer quality programming, events, recognition and advocacy efforts depends largely on the willingness of sponsors to step up to help underwrite the costs associated those efforts.  So at the end of each month, we publish a list of businesses or individuals who sponsored anything Chamber-related during the month.  They have helped us to make a difference in the business community.  All-Stars for November are:  AgChoice Farm Credit, ACA, Allied Milk Producers’ Cooperative, Inc., Altoona-Blair County Airport, Altoona First Savings Bank, Altoona Mirror, Altoona Water Authority, Blair County Conservation District, CBT Bank, Evey Black Attorneys, Graystone Court and Graystone Grand Palazzo, Haberstroh, Sullivan & George, LLP, Imler’s Poultry, Jerry Stern, Keller Engineers, KIZ Resources, LLC, Leonard S. Fiore, Inc., M&T Bank, Martin Oil Company, McQuaide Blasko, Morrisons Cove Herald, Morrisons Cove Blair County Republican Club, Nason Hospital, Ritchey’s Dairy, Inc., Senator John H. December “Breakfast Club” to Feature a Panel of For-Profit Businesses
Being “for-profit” does not mean being unwilling to help others. That message will be vividly conveyed by a panel of non-profit business leaders at the Blair County Chamber’s “Breakfast Club” on December 8th, beginning at 7:45 a.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park. The program, entitled “Venture Philosophy and Social Accountability,” is being put together by the Chamber’s Committee of Non-Profit Businesses.  The panel for the Breakfast Club program will consist of Denny Doll from Reliance Bank, Joe Keller of Keller Engineers, Stacey Burket ofNorth American Communications and Amy Seltzer of Seltzer Financial Strategies.  Each will have 5-7 minutes to talk about their approach to making a difference.  The cost to attend the Breakfast Club is $18 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members.  A full breakfast buffet is included in the cost.  To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Corporate sponsor of the December Breakfast Club is Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries.

Privilege Pages: A Great Way to Market a Product or Event
As the Holiday Season approaches, one effective and inexpensive way to get the word out about an event, program or product associated with your business or organization is to reserve a Privilege Page. What are Privilege Pages? They are the flyers that are inserted into the mailed copies of the Blair Business Mirror each month. They reach the 1,100 business that are on the Chamber’s mailing list. If you are looking to get the word out to the business community, this is an ideal way. And the cost is just $125 (plus you provide the 1,100 copies of your flyer). The deadlines to provide the flyers for the next two insertions are: December 9th and January 6th.  To reserve a space or for more information, call Jessie Covert at 943-8151 or email her at jcovert@blairchamber.com

Safety Program Will Focus on Medical Marijuana Legalization
With the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania legalizing medical marijuana, what is the impact on the business community? That will be the topic of the next Chamber Safety Program, set for December 16th at The Casino at Lakemont Park. The format of the program will be a panel discussion that will feature State Representative Judy Ward, Dr. Anthony Bartkowiak of UPMC, Attorney Brendan Moran of Beard Legal Group, Attorney Jill Lashay of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney and Jon McNally, EAP Manager with Norfolk Southern. The cost to attend the safety program will be $20 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members.  A full breakfast is included. To register, call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Corporate Sponsor for the program is Advantage Resource Group. To submit questions for the panelists, please email Stacy Hoover at shoover@blairchamber.com.

Congratulations . . .
. . . to Klesius & Sheedy, Inc., which is celebrating its 125th year in business during 2016.
