Workers’ Compensation Event Set for Wednesday at Hoss’s
In somewhat of a departure from its usual format for educational programming, the Blair County Chamber’s Safety Committee will be offering a “Breakfast and a Show” that will focus on different aspects of the Workers’ Compensation life cycle. Cleverly entitled, “As the Claim Turns,” this safety soap opera will be moderated by Barbara Hoover, Workers’ Comp Specialist at Teeter Group, who will highlight key points as the case unfolds from the point of injury through root cause analysis and preventative action steps. Local occupational health provider Allison Marinak from HealthForce and physical therapist Lori Seiler from Phoenix Rehab Altoona-Bellmeade Clinic will assist in the evaluation of the medical and return-to-work aspects of the claim. And the audience will assist the injured worker as witnesses to the injury. The program will be held this Wednesday, May 24th at Hoss’s in Duncansville from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The cost to attend is $20 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members. A buffet breakfast is included. To register, call the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

Chamber Check-Up a Perfect Way for Members to Learn About the Chamber
For a Chamber-member business to take full advantage of its membership, it’s important for the people at that business to know and understand what the Chamber does, what it offers and how members can access those benefits. To help provide that information, the Chamber offers a program called “Chamber Check-Up,” a one-hour tutorial for members to hear an overview of benefits to help their business. There is also sufficient time to ask questions of Chamber staff. The next Chamber Check-Up is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31st at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber Office, located in the Devorris Center for Business Development. If you or other employees would like to attend, just call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151. There is no cost or obligation.
