Boyd Selected as New YEA! Program Manager
Royce Boyd, who retired in June as superintendent of the Claysburg-Kimmel School District, has been named Program Manager of the Blair County Chamber’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) program.  During 2016-17, Boyd was a member of the YEA! Steering Committee.  Boyd replaces Jim Kilmartin, who resigned from the post to pursue other business interests.

YOBCO to Mark 100th Year by Hosting “Business After Hours” 
The next Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will be held Tuesday, July 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. To commemorate its 100th year in business, Young, Oakes, Brown & Co, PC will be hosting this event at the Heritage Discovery Center, located at 1421 Twelfth Avenue, Altoona. A portion of 12th Avenue will be closed for this event. Parking will be available in the lot across from the Heritage Discover Center. Cost to attend the After Hours is $10. Farm-City Committee to Hold 2nd Annual “Give-Back Day”
For the second consecutive year, the Farm City Committee of the Blair County Chamber will hold a “Give-Back Day” that will take place on July 28th at Ritchey’s Dairy in Martinsburg. Single scoop ice cream cones will be available all day for just one dollar. Allied Milk Producers will again be partnering with the Chamber. Ritchey’s will donate the $1 per cone as well as 25% of all sales that day to provide milk for the American Rescue Workers Food Bank. For further information on this promotion, contact Stacy Hoover at (814) 943-8151 or email her at shoover@blairchamber.com
 

Application Process Underway for Young Entrepreneurs Academy
Applications are now being accepted for the second class of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) program. The program will begin in late October. To apply, visit the Chamber Website at www.blairchamber.com.

. . . to Dr. Thomas Foley, President of Mount Aloysius College, who has been named the Chair of the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Pennsylvania, which represents 89 private institutions in the Commonwealth.
. . . to James Gerraughty, program manager of the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission Procurement Technical Assistance Center, who has been elected Region 3 Director of the Association Procurement Technical Assistance Centers.  Region 3 encompasses Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.
