The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Farm-City Committee will host its annual Farm-City Dinner this Thursday, Nov. 1, at Freedom Township Fire Hall, 139 Municipal Street, East Freedom. A milk-punch reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a family-style turkey dinner at 7 p.m. The featured speaker for the evening will be former Pennsylvania State Dairy Princess Yvonne Longenecker of Williamsburg. Yvonne is a graduate of Central High School and is currently pursuing a degree in Food Science at Penn State. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Blair County Agricultural Community Excellence (ACE) Award. The award is designed to honor individuals, farm families, agribusinesses or agricultural organizations in acknowledgement of exceptional contributions to the agricultural industry. This year, The Chamber Farm-City Committee will honor the Tyrone Area Future Farmers of America Chapter. Dinner tickets are available at $20 per person.  For reservations, contact the Blair County Chamber of Commerce at 814-943-8151 or register online by no later than Tuesday.

Breakfast Club to Feature Speaker on Post-Election Implications
What will the results of the mid-term elections mean to the Blair County business community? Two days after those elections, the Blair County Chamber welcomes Kevin Courtois, Congressional and Public Affairs Manager of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as keynote speaker at its November 8th Breakfast Club to help sort things out.  Courtois will recap the mid-term elections and discuss implications for the lame duck session and the new Congress. In addition, he will highlight key federal issues important to the business community including infrastructure, immigration, trade and health care. The cost to attend Breakfast Club is $20 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members. To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Corporate sponsor on the November Breakfast Club is Allied Mechanical.
