Business Excellence Dinner is Sold-Out
Tomorrow night’s Business Excellence Dinner at The Casino at Lakemont Park is sold out. The event, honoring businessman Rex Kaup, will begin with a reception in the SoHo Room at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner in the Grand Pavilion at 6:45. Kaup is the 18th honoree of the Chamber’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for Business Excellence.
Chamber Considering Creation of a Political Action Committee
The Blair County Chamber is considering the creation of a Political Action Committee (PAC). The purpose of the PAC would be to allow Chamber members to contribute to causes that have a positive impact on the organization and the community. The Executive Committee of the Chamber Board of Directors will work with the Public Policy Committee to discuss the specifics of PAC formation and will then determine the feasibility of moving forward.
New Award to Honor Outstanding Educators
The outstanding partnership that has been developed between the business and education communities in Blair County has yielded a new Chamber award. Beginning in 2020, the Chamber will present the “Educator of the Year Award” to someone in education who has helped to further the opportunities for students at all levels of the employment spectrum. The new award will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, set for January 31, 2020. More information will be available once the criteria are finalized. A sponsorship for the Educator of the Year Award is available and can be secured by contacting Jessie Covert at jcovert@blairchamber.com.
Chamber Board Approves Five New Members
At its June 20th meeting, the Blair County Chamber Board of Directors approved the following new members: Angelo’s of Altoona, Being Liang of Altoona, Indiana University of PA Office of Extended Studies, Tara Saltzburg of Hollidaysburg, and VetAdvisor Services of Ebensburg.
Presbyterian Village to Host Thursday’s “Business After Hours”
The next Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will be held on Thursday, June 27, from 5 -7 p.m., at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, located at 201 Jackson Street, Hollidaysburg. Cost to attend is $10 for Chamber Members and $20 for non-members. To make a reservation, call the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

. . . to Michael Wagner of Wagner and Finn Attorneys at Law, who was recently recognized by Super Lawyers for the 14th consecutive year for his outstanding legal achievements. No more than 5% of Pennsylvania attorneys receive this honor each year.
. . . to the 25th class of the Chamber’s Leadership Blair County Adult program, who graduated June 13th.
