Blair Business Mirror to Be Published Tomorrow
The October edition of the Blair Business Mirror will be published tomorrow as a supplement to the Altoona Mirror. The cover story will focus on agriculture since October is Farm-City Month. McLanahan Corporation of Hollidaysburg is the main feature since that company has played such a critical role in designing and building equipment for the farming industry. This month’s Blair Business Mirror will also include questions from the Chamber’s Public Policy Committee to candidates for School Board in the Altoona Area and Hollidaysburg Area school districts. Remember, if you’d like to read the Blair Business Mirror in digital format, simply provide your email address to the Chamber and a link to the publication will be sent to you within the next few days. And, for the time being, a hard copy of the publication is still mailed to every Chamber-member business.

Gary Long to Speak at Thursday’s “Breakfast Club”
There are few people in Blair County who understand Blair County agriculture any better than Gary Long. A custom operator of services to local farmers in Sinking Valley, Long knows the ins and outs associated with operating a successful farm, the regulatory aspects of staying in compliance and the all-to-often consequences of uncooperative weather. At the next Blair County Chamber “Breakfast Club” this Thursday, October 10th, Long will speak about, “The Challenges and Opportunities of Blair County Agriculture.” His presentation will provide an overview of what farmers in the county faces each day, how technology has made a difference and how the business community can more effectively interact with the agricultural community to bolster the county’s economy. The cost to attend Breakfast Club is $20 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members.  To register, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online. Corporate sponsor of the October Breakfast Club is Leonard S. Fiore, Inc.

This event is part of an on-going effort of the Chamber’s Farm-City Committee to raise awareness of the important economic impact our agricultural community has on our region. For reservations, contact the Blair County Chamber of Commerce at 814-943-8151 or register online.
