Chamber Office Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday
The Blair County Chamber Office will be closed on Thursday and Friday of this week in commemoration of Thanksgiving. The office will re-open on Monday, December 2nd. For information about the Chamber or to register for Chamber events and programs, visit the Chamber Website.

Don’t Forget to Support Our Small Businesses This Saturday!
Small businesses continue to be the backbone of our local economy.  That makes it even more important that Small Business Saturday is a priority as we look to buy gifts for the holidays. Don’t let Black Friday wear you out! Support our local small businesses this Saturday and throughout the year.

2020 Slate of Board Officers Has Familiar Look
The slate of Board Officers for the Blair County Chamber for 2020 looks a lot like the slate serving currently. At its November 21st meeting, the board approved Darin Tornatore of Keystone Environmental Health & Safety Services as Chair, Richard Fiore, Jr. of Leonard S. Fiore, Inc. as Chair-Elect, Alex Seltzer of Manpower as Vice-Chair of Education, Jamie Miller of Advantage Resource Group as Vice-Chair of Promotion/Events and Cory Gehret of Stiffler McGraw as Vice-Chair of Communications/Advocacy. All five hold those same positions now. The only changes to the slate for 2020 are that Becky Crilly of Reliance Bank will replace John Beyer of PennCrest Bank and Matt Stuckey of Stuckey Automotive will no longer serve as Immediate Past Chair. Beyer and Stuckey’s terms on the Chamber Board expire later this month.

Chamber Board Approves Six New Members
The Board of Directors of the Blair County Chamber met on Thursday and approved the following new members: Appliance Station of Altoona, Central PA Digital Learning Foundation of Duncansville, Ketrow Travel of Duncansville, Packaging Services Industries of Williamsport, MD, Simply Power Yoga of Altoona, and WPSU Penn State of University Park.

Safety Program to Focus on Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
The Safety Committee of the Blair County Chamber, in cooperation with Advantage Resource Group, will hold a Lunch ’n’ Learn program on “Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse” on December 13th from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development. Jamie Miller, general manager of Advantage Resource Group, will be the speaker. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Commercial Driver’s License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is a secure, online database that will give employers, State Driver Licensing Agencies and State law enforcement personnel real-time information about CDL driver drug and alcohol program violations, thereby enhancing safety on our nation’s roadways. The cost to attend the Lunch ’n’ Learn is $20 for Chamber Members and $30 for non-members. To register, call the Chamber at (814) 943-8151 or register online.

Missed the Informational Meeting on the French Riviera Trip?
Last week’s informational meeting on the Chamber’s trip to the French Riviera was well attended and included a large number of sign-ups.  Since the trip is limited to just 35 people, it may be a good idea to make a decision soon, even though the trip doesn’t take place until next Fall. The French Riviera Trip includes visits to Nice, St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, Cannes and Monaco. To obtain information, contact the Chamber at (814) 943-8151.

We Need Accurate Contact Information for Our Membership Directory
As the Chamber begins the process of compiling information for the 2020 Membership Directory, it’s extremely important that you let us know if your contact information is up-to-date. And what to do if it’s not! You can review your membership information online at www.blairchamber.com. Go to the Chamber Membership tab and then click on the Member Directory link to find your business listing.  Members can make changes directly in the database on the website by going to the Chamber Membership tab and clicking on the Members Only link to log into your membership account or by emailing your changes to Cindy Cessna at ccessna@blairchamber.com.

Congratulations . . .
. . . to Eve Campbell, who has been named general manager of Marzoni’s in Greenwood. Campbell also serves as general manager at Marzoni’s Duncansville location.
. . . to Pat Leamer of Hollidaysburg, who was recently named as clinic director at Drayer Physical Therapy’s Altoona West at the Summit Outpatient Clinic.
. . . to Conemaugh Nason Medical Center’s Cardiac Catheterization Lab for being recognized as Rural Health Program of the Year by the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health.
