Part II of Safety Committee Series Set for Today
This morning, Tom Churbock of HSE Solutions will present Part II of “How Much Value Does Your Safety Committee Deliver,” which debuted on November 22nd. Part II, set for Hoss’s in Duncansville from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., will address the roles and responsibilities of the committee and suggest ways to assess its effectiveness. The cost to attend is $20 for Chamber members, $30 for non-members. Breakfast is included. If you see this notice prior to the event, just walk in.
Job Fair is Tomorrow at Jaffa Shrine Center
The Blair County Chamber of Commerce, PA CareerLink®, Southern Alleghenies Workforce Development Board and Altoona Blair County Development Corporation will be hosting a job fair tomorrow, December 17th at the Jaffa Shrine from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. For more information, contact Greg Crooks at 814-940-6219 or email him at gcrooks@pa.gov.
Chamber Board to Bid Farewell to Departing Members
Among the agenda items for Thursday’s meeting of the Blair County Chamber Board of Directors will be the opportunity for the Board to bid farewell to three members whose terms expire at the end of the month. Matt Stuckey of Stuckey Automotive, John Beyer of PennCrest Bank and Todd Lewis of Shoe Fly Stores will be strongly missed, according to Chamber Board Chair Darin Tornatore. “The impact that these three individuals have made on this organization has been exceptional,” Tornatore pointed out. “Each has taken a leadership role in some aspect of the Chamber during his time on the board. We’re hoping to keep them involved in some capacity.” The Board meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Devorris Center for Business Development. Anyone who would like to address the board should contact Joe Hurd by Tuesday at noon at 943-8151.
Jaffa Shrine Center Hosting Thursday’s “Business After Hours”
The next Chamber Business After Hours will be held at the Jaffa Shrine Center, located at 2200 Broad Avenue, Altoona this Thursday, December 19th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tours will be given of the Shrine to locations not seen by the general public. Cost to attend is $10 for Chamber Members and $20 for non-members. Reservations can be made by calling the Chamber at 943-8151 or register online.
Chamber Participating in 2020 Annual Winter Kickoff
The Blair County Chamber will be one of more than thirty organizations – mostly chambers of commerce – that will participate in the 2020 Annual Winter Kickoff event, to be held January 10th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. The event is a mix-and-mingle that allows business people from across Western Pennsylvania to interact in a scenic setting. Enjoy cocktails and light fare and meet some new friends along the way.
